Harvest Festival Returns to the Town Square
After last year's record attendance, the Harvest Festival Committee has announced an expanded program for this October's celebration. New this year: a lantern-making workshop, a heritage seed swap, and a Friday evening concert on the green. Committee chair Ruth Aldridge says the goal is simple. "We want people to feel like they've come home, even if they've never been here before." Tickets are available at the Town Hall and at Beaumont's Hardware.
Mayor Aldridge Addresses the Community
In his address to the town last Tuesday, Mayor Aldridge spoke of the season ahead with characteristic warmth. "Bellhaven has always been a place that takes care of its own," he said. "And this year, I believe, will be no different."
A Letter from the Editor: On the Changing of Seasons

Beaumont's Hardware Marks 139 Years on Elm Street
Earl Beaumont didn't make a fuss about the anniversary. He opened at seven, same as always, and when a customer mentioned the occasion, he said only: "Still got things to fix." The store has been in the Beaumont family since 1887.
Library Receives Donation of 400 Volumes
Margaret Holloway accepted a donation of 400 books from the estate of longtime Bellhaven resident Harriet Voss last week. "Harriet loved this library," Holloway said. "Every one of these books has her name in it. We're keeping them together."

The annual Bellhaven Bake-Off will accept entries beginning November 1st. Last year's winner, Mabel Tran, has confirmed she will defend her title in the pie category. The competition is open to all residents and visitors.
