Plan Your Visit

Everything you need to know before you arrive.

We want your visit to Bellhaven to feel easy. Here's what we know that might help.

I

Getting Here

Bellhaven sits just off Highway 290 in central Texas, about two hours west of Austin and ninety minutes from San Antonio. Take the Bellhaven exit and follow the main road into town — the water tower will be visible from the highway. There is no toll road. There is no confusing interchange. You'll know you've arrived when the road slows down and the trees get bigger.

II

Where to Stay

The Bellhaven Inn on Maple Street is the heart of hospitality in town. Twelve rooms, full breakfast, and Dottie Crane at the front desk. Book ahead for festival weekends. For those who prefer to camp, Aldridge Creek Park is three miles east of town and has twenty sites with full hookups.

III

Where to Eat

The Diner on Main opens at six in the morning and closes when the food runs out, which is usually around two. The pie is not optional. For dinner, the Inn dining room serves Thursday through Sunday. Earl Beaumont will tell you his wife makes the best chili in the county. He is not wrong.

IV

What to Bring

Comfortable shoes. The town is walkable and worth walking. A light jacket in the evenings, even in summer. Cash for the Diner — they don't take cards, and they're not sorry about it. An open afternoon, if you can manage it.

V

When to Come

Bellhaven is worth visiting any time of year. Spring brings wildflowers along the creek road. Summer means Thursday concerts on the square. Fall is the Harvest Festival and the best light you'll ever see. Winter is quiet and honest and good for thinking.
